i can't really speak about furthur, but i have witnessed many a show by DSO.

all these post-jerry bands have their pros, but, (and i'm sure this is old hat) there is just just something missing from the 'feel' of all these bands to me. and i'm not talking about just jerry. there is a real visceral sense that i get every time i'm at these shows, kinda like the emotional equivalent of "this is great, but i'd still rather be in my basement listening to my old hissy tape of 2/22/69 or something..."

of all these bands, DSO has by far enchanted me the most, and i can't figure out if its because they really are so good or if there's a lot of nostalgic factor kicking in. at the very least, they are great at that!
